smart computer use?

Smart computer use? Maybe, maybe not.

Back up your files right now, because you probably haven’t backed them up for a while

Back up your files right now. You probably haven’t backed up your photos, work documents, financial information, music collection or password archive for a while.

Copy your all-important files from the main hard drive on your computer to your external hard drive. Or burn them to a CD. Or burn them to a DVD. Or use remote data backup service. Go out and maybe pick up some data backup software to automate it for you.

My Hard Drive Crashed

What if?

  • What if the power surges and fries parts of your computer, including your hard drive?
  • What if the hard drive just flat out fails?
  • What if you delete a bunch of stuff, accidentally?

This stuff can happen too easily. Data loss is inevitable but it doesn’t have to be disastrous. If you backup even on just a weekly basis you will be able to save yourself lots of grief. Would you rather have a backup from 1 week ago or nothing? I’d even rather have a backup of 1 month ago than nothing.

You don’t want to be the person that has the bad horror story about losing all your stuff to a hard drive failure. So just back up your stuff sometime today, or right now. It’s easy to turn on your usb drive and start a backup.

Make backing up your files easy

Here are some good links about backing up your stuff:

An application that I have recently found to be pretty useful for automating backups on a Windows XP machine is: File Backup Pro. This piece of software allowed me to set up a nightly backup from the folders on my computer that I wanted to backup onto a USB backup drive. It would basically synchronize the drives. It worked pretty good.
