A Blackberry Smartphone is a Computer, Right?
I would think so.
I think about the stuff that I actually use my Blackberry for. I have a Blackberry Curve. I’ve only been using it for a couple of months but I find it to be very useful. I feel that it keeps me connected to my communications easily enough that I need to spend less time in front of a computer. That is a good thing, I think.
So, can I consider my Blackberry Curve to be the same type of device as my computer?
I think I can justify that.
Similarities
I can check my email on my computers… and on the Blackberry. Gmail is easy to access with my computers and I can also use the Gmail app on my Blackberry to check/send email that way too.
I can hop on the internet and read news or my RSS feeds… with both my computer and my Blackberry.
I can use Yahoo instant messenger on both a computer an on the Blackberry.
I can upload photos to Flickr from both devices. This is clumsy on the Blackberry though, but it does work.
Differences
I can’t play Unreal Tournament GOTY edition on my phone, but I can play Tetris clones on the Blackberry. Gaming is on both, but on different levels entirely.
I can’t take picture with my computer, I have to take pictures with another device plugged into my computer and it’s awkward at best. I can take pictures with the Blackberry directly.
I can’t put my computer in my front shirt pocket, I can do that with blackberry.
It’s hard to blog on the Blackberry. Typing with the QWERTY keyboard is decent, but I can’t rattle out the text characters nearly as fast as I can on a computer keyboard.
Anyways… that’s all I got for now.
