Over at ThouShallBlog.com, there is a nice list of 20 reasons why they choose Wordpress. Great reasons. All of them. I agree with every single reason, as a Wordpress user.
It includes some of the obvious awesome reasons such as low maintenance, great SEO capabilities, open source (free) and on and on. But seeing all the reasons lined up in a list of 20 is pretty impressive. It just solidifies how great Wordpress has become over the years.
Head over there and read the list. If you haven’t given Wordpress a look you just might after reading this.

I’m not sure how this one slipped by me, as I use Wordpress pretty much every day. A co-worker pointed out to me that there was a Wordpress.tv now online. Yeah!
Online video for the purpose of learning how to use Wordpress to it’s maximum benefit is great. At the office we frequently need to figure out how to better train people how to use Wordpress, and this new video resource at Wordpress.tv fits very nicely for that purpose.
There is video content teaching the the most basic of Wordpress operations, such as creating a new post, all the way to technical stuff such as installing Wordpress on a local WampServer.
I tend to like to read content more than watching videos myself, but I’m slowly warming up to the idea of watching videos on the web for learning purposes. I can’t skim as easily through a video, and need to learn some patience, but watching a video can go into much more visual detail when required, which can help greatly in learning processes.
Another thing I should mention is that I find Wordpress.tv to be a great model for video blogs. It has a simple and clean layout, is easy to navigate, and puts all the focus on the video content and the followup comments. Good stuff.

I’ve recently been digging around trying to learn the latest SEO tactics and such. I have become very aware of the DoFollow blog concept.
Whenever you post a comment on this site, if you include a link to your site in the url field, that link will point back to your web site. This blog does not have the “nofollow” attribute in the comment url link. This means that these links will help to build the Page Rank value of your web site by providing valuable links to your site.
Interesting stuff eh?
Anyways, I gotta run.

So, I’ve recently noticed that this site is at page rank 4 for Google. Not the greatest, but could be worse. I don’t think any of my other sites register on the page rank scale yet. So… looking at that, I made the decision to put in more effort. Who wouldn’t? I was hoping one of my sites would eventually start gaining some status.
The leason to be learned here is that it is important to check this kinda stuff out. You can speculate all you want, but as soon as you see factual data show you how much weight a site has or how much a site converts, it’s all just speculation.
Now… I gotta figure out how to get some of the other sites up there in page rank.
Fun stuff.

I recently visited one of the web sites that I regularly maintain and noticed that the CSS of the web site seemed to be missing. It was all plain text and plain images stacked up down the page in an orderly fashion.
Luckily Wordpress looks pretty decent even when a stylesheet disappears (for the most part). Even then I was pretty disturbed by the fact that the styles were gone. I didn’t think that I had done this. But, nobody else has access to the site. Who knows. I’ve seen my Wordpress themes malfunction or drop while I was developing on them and refreshing the pages quickly and heavily.
Maybe something just malfuctioned and managed to delete every line of code from my Wordpress theme css stylesheet?
The other best bet as to what happened was that I accidentally deleted all the code from the stylesheet when I was modifiying the web site at one point. I guess I would have noticed if I accidentally deleted every line of code from a file before saving it, but who knows.
Luckily I had a backup of the stylesheet on my computer at home. This issue, regardless of how it happened, was an easy fix.
