Smart computer use? Maybe, maybe not.

Computer Stupidities on the World Wide Web

I always like stories about clueless computer users. I don’t have anything against clueless computer users. We all are pretty clueless about using computers to some degree.

The World Wide Web provides a new arena for computer stupidities. Now users can be stupid to a world wide audience. Fortunately for us, most of them are too confused about what the web is to figure out how to get on it.

Red Interactive’s web site

RedThis is some good stuff, www.ff0000.com, the web site of Red Interactive. It’s fun for a business to business web site.

Take on the roll of a strange, drawn looking character and run around the screen interacting with other site users.

Yet another way to kill some time while sitting in front of a computer. You’ll have a good amount of fun flying up to the cloud line and typing communications to other site users, if anybody else is visiting the site at the same time.

A Game of Life, Mushroom Life

Mushroom Life. An interesting grid-based adventure. Click on the grid, create mushroom patterns, run the cycle, watch them grow. Watch them die. Watch them emerge in interesting sequences across the map.

Definitely check out the suggested patterns towards the bottom of the page. They product interesting results.

Play Scrabble on Facebook with Scrabulous

Yep, it’s finally happened, you can now play Scrabble on Facebook using the Scrabulous application. Lots of people like to play Scrabble, but often don’t have the chance to sit and play with friends. Now you can pace a game at your own leisure within Facebook, which is awfully convenient and fun.

Scrabulous can also be used outside Facebook, but it seems much more convenient as a Facebook app. Apparently Facebook employees really like this app too. It’s caught on like wildfire in my work/friends circle as well.

There’s some good built in lookup tools to verify words and such. Nobody has to argue about whether a word is real or not. Good stuff.

The World Clock

World Clock What could be better than seeing total world stats like births, deaths, total species extinct, marriages and divorces? The World Clock shows you the totals as they rack up. If anything, this site puts the stats of the World on display in a way that gets your attention.

It’s interesting to see the numbers go by. It makes you realize how many people are out there and that you are just a very small part of a very large design.
